What Kind of Visa Are You Traveling With?

My friend Aziehl recently trekked through the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp. When he entered Nepal, he had to declare the purpose of his journey: Business? Tourist? Or Pilgrimage?

He checked tourist.

But somewhere among the mountains, thin air, difficult miles, and breathtaking beauty, something changed. What began as tourism became a pilgrimage.

And maybe that's an invitation for all of us. We can move through life collecting experiences and pursuing comfort—or we can allow every mountain, valley, detour, and difficult climb to become a place where God meets us and forms us.
